Below Vincent was getting ready to spend the New Year with him family. He wanted to spend a little of it with Catherine as well. Opening their Bond just a little he felt severe pain coming from her. Something was wrong. He had to go to her.
"Father I must go Above."
"Something is wrong with Catherine.She is in a lot of pain.I must do this."
"Of course son, go"...and Vincent left the tunnels.
Above in Catherine's apartment she was in labor. Her baby was coming early as Peter told her it would. She had called him and he told her he would be there as soon as he could. Catherine had just hung up the phone when she heard Vincent's familiar tap on her balcony door. The sound brought tears to her eyes. It had been so long since she heard it and saw him. She was on her way to get the door when she doubled over in pain.
Vincent broke her door down feeling her pain and ran to her.Kipper was right Catherine was pregnant.Taking her in his arms. "Catherine are you all right?I felt you pain."
"Yes Vincent I am fine I'm in labor.I called Peter he said he would be here as soon as he could."
"Why don't you call an ambulance and meet him at the hospital?"
"Vincent I cannot go to the hospital because," before she could finish her sentence another contraction hit her.
Lifting her in his arms he carried her to the bedroom and laid her on the bed.
"Catherine have you called the baby's father to let him know?"
"No Vincent.I never told him about the baby."
"Catherine every father has the right to know about his child."
"Well my baby's father has started a new life with another so I never told him"...and she doubled over in pain again.
Vincent knew her contractions were awfully close.He was going to have her baby very soon.
"Vincent I don't think Peter is going to make it on time.The baby is ready to come.You will have to help me."
Removing his cloak Vincent went to the bathroom and washed up.Returning with clean linen.He was going to have to deliver Catherine vary.
At the stoke of midnight New Years Eve Catherine delivered her baby boy.When Vincent held the baby in his arms he began to cry.Vincent had bonded with the tiny beautiful blonde hair blue-eyed baby boy as soon as he held him.
"Catherine he is my son.Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant with my child?" She could see the hurt in his eyes,"I had the right to know.You should not have went through your pregnancy alone.I should have been there with you."
"Vincent you ended our relationship and started one with Lena.Knowing I was carrying your child would have interfered in your new life and you know it."
Laying the baby at her breast, he began to pace.
"Catherine I did not have a relationship with Lena.We made love once and it should never have happened.I don't love her.Catherine", turning to face her, his heart warmed with love seeing her breastfeed their son,"I love you.I made a mistake making love with Lena but I made an even bigger one letting you go...Can you forgive me?"
Looking at him, "Vincent I can forgive you because I love you.But it still doesn't change anything you do not want me to live Below with you in your world."
"Catherine that night I saw you with Tom, I was coming to ask you to come back into my life and live in my world.But I was too late.It hurt deeply.I was lost to myself; I ran home and straight to the falls.I go there when I am faced with a situation I am not ready to handle.I removed my clothes and jumped into the water hoping it would help.I was crying when Lena found me there.She joined me in the water and hugged me. I returned her hug.I felt her rubbing me but I was so lost in my pain I didn't stop her.When I hardened she asked to eas your pain and took me inside her body.I responded to her Catherine to ease my pain.I got nothing out of it.I don't remember what happened between us the pain had numbed me.Feeling your pain when you saw us woke me up.I was surprised to find myself in that position with Lena.It should never have happened,I wish I could have spared you that pain."
"Vincent what made you come here tonight?I am grateful that you did."
"I opened our bond for the first time in months I wanted to share just a few moments with you during the New Year and I felt your pain so I came.Catherine if I had not come here tonight, would you have told me about my son?"
"Yes Vincent one day when the time was right I would have told you."
"Listen Catherine the noise coming from the streets.I almost forgot it was after midnight.Vincent we had a New Years baby."
"Yes Catherine we did.Didn't we.Placing a kiss on his son's curly blond head as he nursed.
"Happy New Year Vincent"
"Happy New Year Catherine"...and they kissed.
This was Catherine's last night living Above.She and her baby returned to the tunnels with Vincent the next day to start their new life Below.
